One positive thing quarantine has done for me is give me time. The time to look back on my photo shoots, reminisce on some of my favorites and get better at blogging them! Like this favorite Goochland Maternity Session from a few years back. On another note – the “country” in Virginia is stunning, there are so many amazing spots to explore.

When I was working full-time and doing photography on the side, I felt like I never had the time to write blog posts. It ended up being pretty rare… and that’s such a shame because I know how important it is to blog and I love sharing my work with you! So I’m taking the time now to go back and share some of those sessions with you. I hope you enjoy them as much as I still do 🙂

This maternity session definitely holds a special place in my heart. This family, this location, those puppies!

Kirsten is my husband’s step brother’s wife… There may not be a correct term for that, but she’s something like my step-sister-in-law? Who knows, haha, but they are definitely family. She’s also one of the most genuine, wonderful people that I know.

She wanted a simple maternity session to show off her beautiful bump in soft lighting, feature her dog babies and her father-in-law’s gorgeous property. I also used this location for family portraits (one of my all-time favorite fall sessions!) with one of their siblings which you can check out here.

Maternity photo sessions make my heart happy. Especially since I have become a mother myself.

I have a lot of women come to me unsure if they want to go through with a maternity session. But each and every time, once they see the images, they are so grateful that they did. Capturing this time in your life is always the right decision. You and especially your kids will love looking back on these photos.

And if you don’t feel very well and want to just get it done quickly, don’t worry, I absolutely get that. I will work with you to make sure that we get in and get out so you can go back to resting! Your comfort is so important.
